Integrative Counselling in Crouch End, North London

Not too much, not too little. Just the right amount — balance.

I am Elin Sweijer, a psychotherapeutic counsellor and certified coach. I support adults in Crouch End, Muswell Hill, Highgate, Hornsey, and across the UK via online therapy.

Welcome

Finding Balance in a Busy Life

Lagom is a uniquely Swedish word meaning "not too much, not too little", i.e. just the right amount — or balance. Balance in life and mind is key to mental well-being.

If you are here, I suspect that you may feel a little bit out of balance. Counselling can help you find your true inner self, voice your thoughts in a safe place, find the tools towards change and hence find peace of mind through balance.

Counselling

Counselling in Crouch End, N8

I offer counselling in Crouch End, N8, serving clients across Muswell Hill, Highgate, Hornsey, Finsbury Park, Stroud Green, Highbury, and wider North London. Sessions are available in person and online throughout the UK.

There are as many forms of therapy as there are therapists. My approach is humanistic integrative, as I believe in the balance of looking to the past and identifying where you want to be in the future, to finding the path in the present which enables your aimed future.

My therapeutic approach is based on:

  • Person-centred: your capacity of knowing who you are and what you want
  • Psychodynamics: looking to the past to identify the source of your trauma
  • Attachment: exploring how you relate to others, and yourself
  • Gestalt: present focus to identify what is hurting here and now
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): identifying what behaviours may affect your mind
  • Jungian: acknowledging the collective unconscious and the impact on us

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, burnout, ADHD, life transitions, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, trauma and questions around identity and belonging.

About Elin Sweijer

Elin Sweijer, psychotherapeutic counsellor and certified coach in Crouch End, North London

Hello, my name is Elin Sweijer. I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor and certified coach based in Crouch End, North London. As the name of my practice implies, I am Swedish — and my upbringing in Sweden has shaped my worldview, with an emphasis on equality, inclusion, and balance.

I grew up with a younger brother who had a rare disease called dystrofia myotonica, which included autism. This personal experience led me to develop a particular interest in neurodiversity, including ADHD.

Professionally, I have a background in marketing, business and change management in the creative industries, enabled through a Master in Business Management from Uppsala University. I was also engaged on the board of UN Women and volunteered for Mentor, an organisation supporting young adults.

Alongside my corporate career, I have always been passionate about psychology and the human mind. I completed a Bachelor in Psychology, an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling from CPPD, and a Diploma in Coaching from RD45.

My clinical placement was at OneinFour, working with survivors of sexual abuse. I also hold a certificate in Mental Health First Aid with Mind.

I am registered with BACP and ICO.
